…when you live it with passion. Passion for creating in detail. But how do you make it happen? Where do you start? How do you create something like this?
There is a simple answer to these questions and … That’s me:)

My name is Andreas Heijnen and I am trilled about creativity in motion pictures and still pictures but also passionate with my hobby for creating a model trains.
So I am going to build a unique private model trainset at our place in Swakopmund, Namibia.
The passion for creating things is fundamental. The only real limitation is the lack of imagination. That is so awesome about this hobby. Everything is possible… Everything!.. and finally… maybe making a wish come true! My wish is to share my passion for creativity and my passion for model trains with the local community of Swakopmund.
And if you wish; you can have a sneak preview of the DEMO-SET already build in Swakopmund from January 2025.
So, just make things happen in 2025 (and beyond) with the Children of Swakopmund and Hentiesbay.

World Sand
A beach with a variety of bathers needs real sand. I decided to use sand from around the world.
I took sand from Dubai, brought some from Riyadh. Lindsey brought some from Indonesia, Manon from New-Zealand, Rob from Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, Simone from Tenerife.
This sand, brought from every corner of the world gets a unique place on the model train set.

Find Yourself
Yes, indeed, I can also be found on my model train set up in a scale 1:87.
Portrayed here as a war cameraman in a military setting. I worked for RTL and NOS as a news cameraman for several years. They asked me after a while whether I was willing to work in war zones. My answer was No and I never regretted it. The “feeling” this evoked led to the making of this mine-scene.

Clairehofke
The greatest wish of Claire, a fifteen year old daughter of friends, was to have her own stable at her parents home. I fulfilled her wish by making this possible on my trainset scale 1:87. Proud as a peacock, she cherishes the Claire Manor (Clairehofke) as if it were her own.

Mount Hannah
Whilst this hobby allows you to unleash your creativity, you could also invite someone else to help. Hannah, the daughter of my deceased Australian cousin Andrew, loved shaping this mountain, which will receive a snowy cover with a Christmas market, frozen lake and small castle restaurant.
This is why I named this gorgeous mountain “Mount Hannah”

Who seeks will find
This hobby allows you to make anything you want. You can imagine your own fun mini-scenes. Or, you might play “who seeks will find” and have the children look for things like the “dog taking a pee” or “the brave fireman rescue your cat”
And others love the creativity with the painters on the scaffold.
All figments of your imagination.

A bridge 2 far
When you look at this scene you will probably notice a few things straight away.
The waving lady with a child and the skid marks left by the car. The woman waves to her husband, a photographer, who’s taking a few snapshots from a nearby hill.
The sked marks came from a different scale car with profile tires dabbed with black paint.
